James Jasper Cowan (son of Francis Cowan) VS
James Cowan (m. Margaret/Peggy Moore)

I would love to know what other researchers have on James Cowan (born abt 1825) son of Francis Cowan. This family moved from SC to Alabama in the early to mid 1800's.

I have determined that the James Cowan of my research is a different man than the James mentioned above, but love to have further proof of this theory by cross-referencing with other researchers. I am tracing James Cowan (m. Margaret/Peggy Moore). I am 95% sure that these are two DIFFERENT men, but many people seem to have them merged. I would love to compare as much info as possible to try and make a definitive separation of the two James' or to correct my own theory if I am wrong. The info that I am seeking is on the James Cowan known to many as "James Jasper Cowan."

I would love to know any info that you have concerning his birth/death dates, any marriages and children and any known dates of residence in Alabama (such as when he was known to still be living at home, known to be living on his own). I am hoping to put this issue to rest in one way or another. The possibility of two men with the same name and very similar birth dates and states of residence/birth has tortured my research for years. I am seeking help from anyone.

Thanks!! Sheila
