I'm sure the aged gentleman who set up Relative Genetics isn't writting a book on the Cobbs. He's not related. And I'm sure he's not related to my Atkinson line either. I repeat, there is no rational reason to assume that a big corporation that sets up a DNA processing system is writing a book. The main reason that I'm sure that RG isn't doing that is that there is no genealogical information posted on the site and this info is not required in order to do the test. The results are posted on each projects website and all it does is allow members and those who wish to be contacted a way to see if there is a match. That information and any individuals specific DNA results would not be useful to anyone writing a book. There is another site that does require 4 generations of lineage and there is no report given to anyone. Anyone can go there and input their own dna results and search for a match. I have the test done on my brother...who didn't match anyone on the surname project....so I posted his results anonomously on that site. About 2 yrs later someone contacted me because he found that he matched my brother. I am one of the project coordinators on the RG site and I can assure you that I am not trying to write a book. As Mike Cobb has stated over and over, as soon as a book is in print it is discovered to be full of errors. I even hesitate to post info on this list because of potential errors, real errors or just difficulty with communicating in writing to people who can't see your expression and the tendency of any errors to become permanent. If anyone has a line that they can't find the ancestor for they are well served to participate in a DNA project to see if they can find a match that may help them at a minimum focus their efforts in the direction of the line that they match. I believe that the issue you are having is that you are not a Cobb and can't access the Cobb DNA project. If you have a specific line that you are following and want assistance you can ask for help. But to badmouth and name call a specific site because you are not allowed to see what is there is petty and surely one can attract more flies with honey than so much vinegar.
