Betty:
Thanks for the effort in giving his apparent parentage but based on the info I have it is not definitive he can be connected yet with the Barnstable family.

Referring to a family register (incomplete in some dates, giving a birth, marriage or death date) in sampler form by a daughter of Elisha Warren Cobb ("Family Record: Genealogical Watercolors and Needlework, by Gloria Seaman Allen; a catalog of an exhibit, Jan. 30, 1989 - May 14, 1989, at the DAR Museum, Washington DC; Maria Cobb pg. 79", provided by Jan Thomas' email).

Elisha Warren Cobb (1) was married in New York and raised a family there, ending up in Palmyra, NY and (2) he had no son Elisha R. Cobb in Mass. Thus a good guess but it is not a valid connection to the Barnstable family based on that link.

I have more info on the family (to be updated for the next Cobb & Cobbs update as I am a file manager).
These are the known children of E. W. Cobb and Ann(a) Johnson:

1) Rensselaer Warren Cobb
Birth: 1 Dec 1815 Stafford, Genesee Co., NY, USA
2) Joseph J. Cobb
Birth: abt 1819
3) Maria L. Cobb
Birth: 1822 (she sewed the sampler with a family register)
4) Edwin D. Cobb
Birth: abt 1824 Phelps, Ontario Co., NY, USA
5) M William W. Cobb
Birth: aft 1825

Therefore I must present Elisha R. Cobb (of whom I have no match in my database) is not linked yet to any of the 3 major Cobb lines in Mass. and Elisha Thomas' ancestral connection is lacking for now.

Paul Cobb
