Dear Cathy,
Samuel Cobb is a brick wall for me too.
However, I have lots of information on Azor Charles, his ancestors and his descendants.
My mother-in law is the Charles in my family.She is a direct descendant of Oliver Charles, who is the 3rd great grandfather of Azor Charles.Azor Charles is my mother-in- law's 4th great grandfather, her Dad being Norman Kirk Charles.
I also have information on the families of the wives of the Charles men, and in a few cases, they were way more interesting than the men.

I would like to try to link up my Charles with the fellow you mentioned, if they are in fact related.
Oliver Charles, from Wales or born in Virginia in about 1707, wife Elizabeth, last name unknown,lived in Essex Co., VA died 1764, Virginia. Had at least 3 children, one being James Charles
James Charles, born 1732 in Essex County, Virginia, married Sarah Halbert Oct 28, 1754, died 1776 in Surrey Co NC,had issue, one being Joel Charles
Joel CHarles, born 1753 in Virginia or NC, married 1787 Mary Blackburn, died June 9 1843 in Sulphur Springs Creek, French Lick, Indiana, had issue, one being Azor Charles
Azor CHarles, born Nov 12, 1796 in Tennesse, married July 17 1820 in Orange Co, Indiana to Rachel Cobb, died Sept 24 1871 in French Lick, Orange,Indiana, had issue one being
William Charles
William CHarles born March 19, 1820 in French Lick, married December 1857 to Caroline Faucett, died April 4 1898 in French Lick, had issue one being George Azor Charles
George Azor Charles born 1857, married Sarah Dalton,died July 13 1924 in Luisville Kentucy(he went to a hospital there for treatment and never came back), family remained in Indiana, had issue one being Joseph CHarles
Joseph Charles, born Dec 30 1886, died Jan 1973, married twice, first to Florence Wolfington, and second to Mary Emily Kirk, he and Mary had Norman Kirk Charles
Norman Kirk CHarles born Aug 14 1922 in Orange Co, married 1948 in Dearborn Michigan, died in 1973 in Wayne Co, MI all children living, with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I have lots of personal information on the Charles family,stories, pictures, and information on the siblings of these folks. One Uncle lives near the old Charles homestead in Orange Co. He just visited there last year. Its now down the road from Larry Bird's house.
