We never solve one problem without creating several more, do we?
Our database does not list an Alson Calkins or Nina Ward. However the 1880 census for Grand Rapids, MI, (as transcribed by LDS Church) gives an Alson Calkins, age 18, born MI, living with his fther Walter Calkins age 48, sister Evlyn Calkins, and aunt Martha Pike age 40, with no mother listed. I am reasonably sure that the Martha Calkins b 1840 in PA was the daughter of Alva (or Alvin) Calkins and wife Caroline (Unknown) Our data for that family does not list a son named Walter. We have a son named Wallace for whom nothing more is know. There is also a gap in their children in 1832 which could indicate that we simply missed Walter. I suspect that Mayme comes from this family, but more work is needed.
