Hi, Gary;
Despite the additional information, I still cannot place your Mayme Calkins, by any spelling that I can think of, in the database of descendants of Hugh Calkins.
It is likely that your Nina Adele Ward is the daughter of John and Octavia (Barber) Ward, he born abt 1832 in NY and she b abt 1843 in MI, but I have not really checked these out, so you will want to before using.
There were a number of Calkins families in the Grand Rapids area of Mi around 1880, so it is hard to focus on one family.
If you should get any more information on the Calkins group, I will be happy to try again.
