Hello- Just in case anyone out there is trying to trace this man (my great uncle) I have copies of his Canadian "Attestation Papers" (the form he used to sign up when he ran away to canada to join "The War" on 11/13/1916, much to his family's distress) as part of the Princess Pat "Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force." I also have his original Princess Pat cap badge. [And NO, I'm not selling anything! I'm simply offering up what knowledge & tangible things I have for copying, photo-taking, information exchange, etc.] I also have some very interesting information that is NEVER mentioned in my family history: On the attestation papers: Victor, at first, puts down his father (DH Corkran, Sr., of Middlebury Vt.) as next of kin and "Not Married"....BUT THEN later has those two items "scratched out" (initailled and adjusted by an "JKA") and he puts down (gulp)"Married" and next of kin: "Annie R____?__ McLean Corkran, 216 Pell St., Montreal, Quebec." Whoa... WHO IS Annie McLean Corkran???? WHY is the marriage not mentioned in my family history? Are there descendents? If people are interested in other aspects of this lineage (Calkins/Corkran line), I've been entrusted with a lot of information (and objects) and over the years I've found that resarch is a lot of fun. I've collected a lot of artifacts and information, and I have boxes of well marked photos from late 1800's to early 1930's. (I even have my great-grandparents "love letters" c. 1895!!! He "rode circuit" as a Methodist Preacher while she held down the fort and raised the children!) Within the last few years it's gotten easier and my collection has grown. There's a lot more access to data bases. If others find things, I'm hoping that they will touch base with me as well. Peace & Justice Lesley Notify Administrator about this message?
