For 35 years I've been looking for the parents of my Jeremiah BURTON, b:1814 - 1818 in SC. Both parents b: SC. I've considered the possibility of Jacob BURTON/BUXTON RWS being Jeremiah's grandfather, but this is all I have on Jacob BURTON/BUXTON. Perhaps you can get back to me with your thoughts or other findings. Did this Jacob leave a Will in the Abbeville District of SC in 1782? 7-20-2006 - I called Probate in Abbeville Co., SC, spoke with "Karen" who was very patient, kind, & helpful. Jacob BURTON was indexed with no date - and as an "administration". Not found. Abbeville Co. houses all the old, old papers. Should have no need to look in other counties that may have been a part of Abbeville District at one time. gb I need to go to Abbeville Co. to see if perhaps this might be indexed under BUXTON, etc. gb __________________________ Census_Year 1790 Microfilm # M637-11 State South Carolina County Orangeburgh, South266 City/District Enumerator Daniel Green 266 21 Buxton Jacob 1 0 1 and 9 slaves If this is the Jacob BURTON in the RW, then we can assume his children were out of the hh. In this same census is a Benjamin BURTON, presumably a son. 252 16 Buxton Benjamin 1 1 3 0 0 Jacob BURTON served as a colonel in the militia under Gen. MARION.(Massey, Alton S.
