Clyde Bertrand, Vidor Tx early 19teens-early20's

I am looking to find out more about my ancestry and this is all I have.

My grandfather Clyde Bertrand born in Vidor TX
sometime around late
19teens to early 20's

G-Grandmother Bell Bertrand not sure of birthplace
was told she was born in early to mid 1890's

My grandfather has told me in the past that my ancestry goes back to France and that my G-grandmother always said she was 1/4 cherokee. I know of several brothers and sisters in and or around Vidor TX but only remember one name, Bessie, and unsure of last name. My grandfather died in 2005 in RI and lived in Little Compton RI since the 1980's, and in Newport RI after serving in the navy at the end of WW2. He Married my Grandmother in late 40's early 50's. Her maiden name- Cameron.

Any info on to help find out my ancestry so I can pass the info on to my children would be greatly appreciated.
