Following the death of American Elizabeth Bolden at the 116 years age, last Monday, Québécoise Winnifred Bertrand became the new senior of humanity. 115 years and 91 days old, Miss Bertrand is originating in Coaticook but lives in Montreal since about thirty years. According to its close relations, it makes a point of being made call "Miss" because she was never married. She worked as saleswoman in a store of clothing of Coaticook during 35 years. She remains with the residence Berthiaume-of-Tremblay, in the Ahuntsic district. According to the personnel which occupies itself some, its health worsened during two last years. There are 78 110 year old people and at the present time the world, including 70 women. The absolute senior is Portoricain Emiliano Mercado del Toro, 115 years and 117 days old. In 1998, another Canadian, Marie-Louise Better, had held the title of senior of humanity, at the 117 years age. The Jeanne Frenchwoman Calm, deceased in August 1997, is still the oldest person whose age was authenticated, at 122 years and 164 days (note from Jean-Pierre)
