Hi, I'm looking for any information about a Clement Bertrand who was born abt. 1835, and came to SE Louisiana sometime afterward. His wife was named Olivia, with possibly the last name of Gaudin (Godin).
The only solid info I have is from an old baptism certificate for his son, Olivier Bertrand (born 31 Mar 1874, LaFourche Parish, LA), and a LaFourche Parish Census. Clement and Olivia are both listed in the census as being from Canada. Everything else I know is from family stories, one being that he ran away from home in Canada and settled down here.
If anyone has any more information, it would be greatly appreciated. I have spent years tracking down Clement Bertrand and his wife, as have a few other family members, and we all end up at the same dead end.
