my clicker clicked too fast.. I have recently stumbled upon another connection of my Bennetts to those of Mattoon and Champaign Illinois Charles Bennett married a Susan Woodbury Cleves They had the following children - all born in Mattoon: Cleaves b 1870 - Married Frances Hodges - was a librarian at the University of Illinois and became a doctor and moved to Champaign Sarah b 1872 - possibly moved to Oregon Charles Gerrish b 1874 - died I think in 1892 Edith Bennett b 1877 - possibly moved to Seattle Helen Bennet b 1879 - possibly moved to Charlestown, Ill John Lewis Bennett b 1881 - possibly moved to Colorado SPrings Co Susan Bennett b 1884 Charles Bennett died 1-1-1901 - he was a lawyer and taught law, held a position of county judge and was later on the board of trustees at the Univ. of Illinois. He went to effingham academy for his prep days - then to Bowdoin college in Maine in 1864 and also served in the revolutionary war as a 2nd lieutenant with the 23rd Maine Volunteers and the 19th Maine Volunteers 1864. I'm of the same family of Bennetts via way of Charles grandfather (his father was John Bennett (b 1812) who married Wd. Hannah Libby) - William Bennett (b. 1767) and Lois Flint. John was the brother of my great-great-grandfather - William Bennett (b 1804). I have a lot of the allied lines and just trying to connect with living relations.
