Dear Belliveau ancestors: I own a violin made by Joseph Ulric Belliveau in the year 1930 in Providence, Rhode Island. The authentic label and the violin is in excellent condition. I wondered if anyone at all knows of the specific Belliveau family who may be related to this fine maker. The violin is unique in that it has a special guitar design around the edge of the wood on the top; this is called "purfling." He probably made guitars. I've been told by Boston makers that the violin I have of his is the best they've seen of his work.
