Baskerville - Basquille link ?

Hello,

I'm trying to find out if there's a link between the Basquill's of Ireland and the Baskervill's of England. There's an argument among different families of Basquill's both in Ireland, England, the U.S and Canada as to the correct origin of the family name. Records here in Ireland show that the Basquille (also spelt Basquill, Basquil) name was well established, around the towns of Westport and Castlebar, in the early 19th century. Emigration records from that era to the U.S and Canada show numerous Basquill's. Records prior to this were lost in a great fire some time ago.
What I'm basically trying to find out is if we are from the Basque country or Norman. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Ger.
