COWAN, John: Family Bible, 1852

This Family Bible is in very poor condition, with no front or back covers. The spine is intact. All the pages (768) appear to be intact, except for the “Concordance” the last section of the bible) which covers only “ABI” to “HEA.”

The Title Page is torn and is separated from the spine.

Size is 9-1/4” X 11-1/4” X 2-1/4”. Published by Wanzer, Foote & Co., 1850.

Family Records start on page 97 and covers 5 pages of Marriages starting with the 1852 marriage of John Cowan (b. 1832) and Mary Ann Baskerville; plus Births, and Deaths. The surname of “Means” is also noted in this record.

Several pages have notations, including (p. 574 & 754) “John Cowan, 1853, Goodwick Township, Canada.”

Also included is a typed (incomplete) genealogy list covering 1817 to 1922; several handwritten (cursive!) notes; and pressed flowers.
