Hi, I recently uploaded a list of the slaves of Mark Alexander - from Park Forest, the plantation that was next to Buena Vista in Mecklenburg VA. This list was made in 1865 on the day of the surrender of Robert E Lee. Some of these freed slaves later took the surname Alexander, and Baskerville, or married former Baskerville slaves. I have posted a transcription of the list on my website at: http://www.wemba-music.org/mecklenburg_county_va_slaves_and_freemen.htm I am interested in finding out if a similar list was made by William R Baskerville of his slaves in 1865, or if any wills exist naming his slaves. I am particularly interested in locating a slave named Page - born March of 1848, sold to the Baskervilles at age three. Page was sold away from his mother, and he never saw her again (family oral history). Page kept the surname Baskerville and died abt 1929 and is buried in South Hill. I would also be interested in finding a bill of sale for Page - so that I can track who owned him prior to his purchase by the Baskervilles, and perhps find where his mother was sold. His married Mary Mimms abt 1878, and their children were Robert, Littleton, Alexander, James and Annie Baskerville. Denise Notify Administrator about this message?
