J A Baldwin+Martha J Pendergrass; NC; who was his father?

I am researching the Macon County, NC Baldwins:
William T. Tippett m. Hattie Baldwin.
Hattie b. 12 Jul 1881 in Macon Co, NC to John Leander Baldwin and Georgia Allie Ray.
John Leander b. 6 Oct 1860 in Macon Co, NC to John Alexander (Alex in some census records) and Martha J. Pendergrass.
I cannot find John Alexander Baldwin's parents and/or ancestors. Any help you can give would certainly be appreciated.
