Amanda, I doubt that Elizabeth is the Mother of Martha J. Aylor since in the 1850 Census Elizabeth is listed as being 21 and Martha J. as 7. There is also a Mary Ann, age 10, that seems to indicate an earlier marriage. No, I do not know who this might be. The earliest records I have is the 1850 census. In the 1880 Census, Martha J. is listed as the wife of James H. Thompson along with their children (these are sure) and Belinda Aylor, 19, sister-in-law of the head of house and Calvin Aylor, 9, brother-in-law of the head. Martha J. Thompson died in 1924 in Titus County. There should be something on her death record, but I have not looked at it. Of coarse, even then it might not be correct This is one of those "I must do" things that I have not done.

James H. Thompson and wife, Martha J. are my maternal great grandparents. Growing up, I do not remember my Mother mentioning her grandparents. A few years ago I talked with the oldest surviving (no longer alive) grandchild of James H. and Martha J. Thompson. I asked him if he knew anything of them. His reply was "I never knew much about my grandparents." I am the child of the daughter of Benjamin H. Thompson, the youngest of James H. and Martha J. Thompson. How do you fit in to this family?
