We have carefully tracked down more information about the Mt. Carmel Church (there were two preceding the current 1950s structure) and about the Post Office (there were a total of three). Also new to us is the fact that Albert Aylor was the Postmaster in Haywood from 1896 to 1914 and that his daughter, Virgie Aylor, was Postmaster as well. As a result, we have updated sections of the Soho Center's Albert Aylor Project website - including adding a map locating B.J. Hall's store/Post Office, Gallehugh's Second Store/Post Office, Aylor's Furniture Shop, Mt. Carmel Church, and other early Haywood area landmarks. We welcome you to take a look and add any additional information you might have. The direct link to the Aylor pages on the Soho Center's site is - http://www.child2000.org/AylorMain.htm Sincerely, Jeanna Beker Director The Soho Center http://www.child2000.org Telephone: 540-923-5012 Notify Administrator about this message?
