Hi Laura,
According to a birth record for one of his children, John Aubert's place of birth is Trier, Germany.
Did Anna Maria Aubert have any other children besides Anna Maria Lang? Do you know her husband's name? I'm trying to find them in the 1880 and 1900 censuses, but am having little success. I did find a reference to Anna Lang's marriage to Michael Eberle on 24 May 1882 in Cook Co, Illinois at the LDS websight.
I located Cleveland on a 1890 map I have of Chicago and it's in the same area as Dayton St.
