This portrait of Charles Arnold appears as front piece illustration to The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XIII, no.10, 1890. There is also a biographical sketch of Charles Arnold on pages 282-283 of that volume. Charles Arnold was born in 1818 in Bedfordshire, England. In 1833 he moved to Paris, Ontario, Canada. He established Paris Nurseries. He was very involved in horticulture and gardening.
