Info Needed Re: 1860-80 Cherokee Settlement Madison Co., OH

Looking for anybody with information about a Cherokee Settlement in the Madison County Ohio area in the vicinity of Big Darby and Little Darby Creek in existence at least during the 1860s to 1880s.

Family stories tell that JOEL B. MCMILLLAN b. South Carolina May 20, 1843 came to Ohio, met and married in 1880 a Cherokee woman PRISCILLA JANE NESKETT b. April, 1864. The family has never been able to conclusively prove that PRISCILLA JANE was Cherokee since no records have ever been found of her parents, siblings, etc. We don't even know for sure that there was a Cherokee Settlement in the Madison County Ohio area.

I would be most grateful for any information you could supply that either substantiates or disproves the family story.
