I guess I'm looking for a needle in a haystack but maybe someone might have the answers to one or more of my questions. Any Help will sure be appreciated!
I have put together from many relatives that had never met one another enough common threads to post this today.
June 8, 1862 or 1863 a Native American Blackfoot women living by upper Montana near Canada was suppose to have nursed Leland Stanford (Of the Stanford Universtity) brother or cousin back to health. He had apparently broken a leg while working on the railroad.
Out of this time together came the birth of a little girl named later Hattie or Harriet M. Stanford.
She went to live with relatives of the Stanford's.
These are my questions please:
This women apparently had 13 children and couldn't handle one more so that is why Hattie was given to the other family to raise.
Are there any tribal records of natives maybe from that time period with alot of kids..?
Were there railroads in that area during 1862-1863? If so does anyone know the railroad companies name and how early it was started?
Hattie to all of us by her photo looks Native and like other Blackfoot Natives we have seen in older photos.. Is there any one that can view a photo and tell if that person looks like that tribe..?
Are there census available for the area that the Nation of Blackfoot lived in for the 1800's to 1864.

We at first had thought since Hattie's birth was listed as being born in Arcadia, Wi. that the conception happened nearer her home..But after having a long talk with another relative that verified what others had told me ..I figured our Native Heritage came directly from the Reservation families in Mt. near the upper part of the State.
